Summer days

I had been itching to go on a holiday earlier this month and I came across these wonderful women on Instagram after seeing Elizabeth Kartchner’s image on her site (above):

Just keeping up with their adventures through their photos has become quite a highlight for me recently ๐Ÿ™‚ I urge you to check it out.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

New Pages

I’ve been MIA for 4 days, but Thursday I got my boxes back from my parents after selling stuff in a car boot, and everything else went to charity. I just wanted my space back, so I have been slowly getting things to how they should be.

The pagesย I have done this week:

oliver handprints

New York

Caravan

I’m super excited, I’m hoping to apply for a design team. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do ๐Ÿ™‚

Taz the hoodie

I’m on Networked blogs on Facebook should anyone want to follow me ๐Ÿ™‚ย  http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks/blog/kirstys_journal/ย  and my photography one is there too: http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks/blog/kirsty_base_photography/ย  and I need people to confirm that I’m the author so please do that too after my failed attempts to confirm it myself.

My current book

My book was seriously funny. And I thought things went terribly wrong on my camping holiday the other week, nothing campared to this, and Emma and her family are nothing but persistent! LOL, I loved this. And the ending seemed very fitting too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sandcastle

My “beach in a box” is seriously awesome. I had it on my desk at work and my boss destroyed my sandcastle – to be honest I think he just wanted to play with it and see what it was about, so squishing my sandcastle seemed the best way!

Sea Monkeys

Our sea monkeys are doing ok. Easiest pets ever.

Taz in his blue rain coat

Taz the hoodie

and isn’t Taz the cutest hoodie you’ve ever seen lol! My parents took him camping last weekend but it was a bit wet so they bought him a rain coat complete with hood.

I will have to find something to blog about that’s better than this.

bad blogger

I’ve been terrible, I know. I took photos to share on the blog but never got round to it.ย  Currently I’m sat in the front room while Gaz is sleeping in the bedroom. I’ve been whispering on the phone to my mum as there is still no news on the baby yet.ย  My sister in law’s due date was Thursday, they took her in yesterday at 11am because of high blood pressure, and the poor thing is still going. They’re checking on her at 8.30am.ย  I still Tweet, so check the sidebar and follow me for the best chance of any latest news ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I have unlimited texts on my phone so I tweet as and when which is a lot more often than my blogging! lol!ย  I’m currently wondering which will arrive first – my Studio Calico kit or the baby ๐Ÿ™‚ย  My kit was shipped Wednesday last week and I generally get it about 7 days later, so I suppose at the moment it could be either!

Sims has sucked me right in, I’ve started my legacy family, which is another thing I’ve been meaning to share.ย  Jamie Hart is back ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It’s funny to be “seeing” this character again after he was my starter sim for my legacy on Sims 2.ย  I will share more info. I will, but once the baby is born there will be lots of cooing and photos to keep my attention for a bit before I’m back.

And as for camping – the photos I wanted to share lol! Well, we will be going to my parents (that’s me and Gareth going)ย  as we’re putting the tent up in my brother’s garden while he’s not there. I have to be there at 10.30, but this proves an issue – as that’s when the post comes and I don’t want to miss it in case my kit arrives. Then, this afternoon is manic as I have to get into town after nan’s house pay a bill and other boring stuff and hope that I don’t miss anything baby-wise but after that everything is hunky dory.

I can’t wait to show off some newborn photos though ๐Ÿ˜‰

More sewing

I ended up doing the buttercup bag again ๐Ÿ™‚

My bag :)

In my bag :)

and I made some accessories ๐Ÿ˜‰

Scrunchie

Wrist band

Ok, so I had the jelly bracelets already from my Primary School days when we all used to trade them up, and for a pack of black jellies I ended up with purple and day glow green (one is glittery) which go well with my bag ๐Ÿ˜€

This morning it was down Attwools again, this time with mum and dad. Saturday afternoon dad put the Lichfield/Kelly tent up for us, and for a few days it will do us alright but I’ve been saying for ages the living area is a bit of a push as it’s not quite what I would consider big enough should we have traditional British Summer weather and be stuck in the tent (I suppose we could head to the club house in normal circumstances, but our ยฃ1 a night deal doesn’t include entertainment passes…) Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good tent ๐Ÿ™‚ But more of a weekender than a holiday tent.

So at Attwoolls, dad was buying some more guyline pegs but was, as it turns out, eyeing up some tents at the same time. He very nearly bought this lovely tent called the Tetbury. Only the gap at the bottom was quite horrific – there was no little flaps at the bottom to let water run away from the tent and to keep out drafts otherwise he would have bought it. Right next to that tent was my beloved Chatsworth which he really liked too – only the price was as off putting for him as it was for us.ย  We browsed at one in the Argos catalogue, the Lichfield Mohawk. But upon closer inspection, realised the living area wasn’t all that great as it sloped and was on a diagonal as well (but in my opinion, still better than the one he has).ย  Back at my parents house we browsed online, but seriously cannot find a better tent to suit than the Chatsworth… or a tent like the Tetbury but with a sewn in groundsheet.ย  Ugh.

Still, dad seems convinced that we’ll have a new tent to go away with, which in itself is really funny as he had told me and Gaz that we didn’t need to buy anything as he had it all already. Maybe when he put the tent up on Saturday he realised what I had been saying about the living area size? Who knows lol.

On Thurday we had a power cut.ย  Luckily Big Bang Theory had just finished and we were getting ready to get up and start going to bed when the TV switched off. I assumed Gaz had sat on the remote lol, but upon closer inspection the power had gone off completely. Dad gave us a wind up torch for when we go camping, so it came in handy! The bedroom was lit by 3 tealight candles, and I went outside to check on neighbours and see if their electric had gone too as the power on the other side of our cul-de-sac was still on.ย  Turns out my cousin 2 roads over had lost her power and the near by hotel was out too. We woke up to 3 mobile alarms, although our main alarm powered by electric still went off, dispite the fact I haven’t changed the back up batteries since I got it a good 7 years or more ago lol. It just wasn’t displaying the time, but the radio still worked and so did the alarm (note to self – change batteries!) We woke up the next morning at find the power was still out. We couldn’t use our landline either as that’s electric so everything was done by mobile, so I rang mum who came up to put freezer packs in our fridge/freezer – we had only gone shopping on Thursday evening and filled it up… We were petrified we were going to lose all that food!!

The power did come back on eventually at 11am… 13 hours after it had gone off. Yikes! Luckily everything in the fridge was fine ๐Ÿ˜€

Writing bug

I remember when I was 14, I sat down and I wrote a 400 page story, which (if I do say so myself) I quite enjoyed, but I’m biased ๐Ÿ˜‰ andย that story will never see the light of day because it was pretty much Hanson Fanfic.ย  My current story is a bit of an odd thing for me to talk about really, but it’s a story I want to tell. I recall it all fondly to anyone who will listen.

Now it’s about an old crush of mine from back in the day, a guy I consider one of my best friends still to this day although we don’t get to chat half as much anymore because life has pretty much got in the way.ย  Looking at it, it may be a little weird to be writing it, but a thing I really want to do this year is to hold a book that I have written in my hands in its published form ๐Ÿ™‚ And what better thing to write about than personal experience. I will post draft chapters as and when, and hope that anyone who reads it enjoys it.

Speaking of crushes, the hottest guy in the world cooked us a yummy dinner tonight ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Here he is playing WoW:

and the cutest texts lolย  “baby looney pants” ๐Ÿ˜€

Back to Attwoolls

You will be mine...

This has to be THE tent.ย  I love it, it’s the perfect size for the two of us. It has a Sewn in Groundsheet, has the “quick erect system” which means it’s apparently a piece of cake to put up (I will be asking for an instore demo lol)ย  It has 2 bed pods which means one can be used for additional storage… But look at that price tag. Oh Chatsworth… you WILL be mine. And the carpet, so that the SIG is protected from my butter fingers ๐Ÿ˜‰

The funniest thing is Gareth said it seems too big!ย  I think he’d change his mind once it was set up and our equipment was inside (ooo, moon chair!)

*sigh*ย  Maybe I do having a camping addiction.

Camping

Awww, 1984…

Me and mum camping {84}

and our lush tent:

And then there’s 1997:

and our itty bitty tent:

Our tent

So what’s up with the nostalgia?ย  I want to go camping and have been taken over by camping fever lol! Poor Gareth got dragged around Attwools this afternoon (practically kicking and screaming) and we found a cute tent… but we’re awaiting the brouchers for a few of the camp sites we’ve (read: I’ve) been looking at before we start thinking about that.ย  It’s been so long since I’ve been camping, after that camping trip dad got a lush 6 berth tent (sadly, no photos from that trip!) but since gave it to my Uncle Mark so he could work on his car if it was raining.

But for me, the tent (Khyam Chatsworth) would be worth the investment if we would do it as a regular thing. Going abroad is expensive… Staying in a static caravan or a lodge etc is still expensive… Camping has to be the way to go… Ok, ok, so the British weather is absolute cack, but that’s why we were looking for a tent with a decent sized living space.

The coolest thing I saw in the shop though was a camping bunk bed! LOL! Seriously it looked so cool.

As for the fact there are lots of past entries means I finally figured out how to transfer it over (only I had far too much for my 2MB upload limit!)
